    Abstract

The question of "sin" is closely bound up with man's happiness or misery and with his destiny. From the viewpoint of Mulla Sadra, sin is but rejecting divine prescriptions and proscriptions and it is an obstacle to man's happiness and perfection. Moreover, Mulla Sadra considers sin as an act that darkens the heart and leads man towards sensual pleasures. Mulla Sadra believes that there are different factors inside and outside the existence of man which drive him to commit sins. Among the factors are love of material world, carnal desires, man's ignorance, heart, Satan and blind imitation, but he considers man to be mainly responsible for committing sins, because he has freedom of choice. Hence, man is responsible for all the sins he commits.

    Abstract

Evidently morality plays a very important role in all the aspects of human existence from the most superficial dimensions to the deepest aspects of life. Scientific efforts in this field have led to the development of a wide range of approaches and theories about morality. But due to their dispersion and vagueness, there is an urgent need organizing and classifying them. No doubt the classification of approaches and theories about morality has resulted in scientific order, created a system of moral knowledge and removed disunity and dispersion. This paper aims to classify the different approaches and theories about morality. In the first section, the general approaches and theories about morality are classified in terms of source and documentation and in the second section, in terms of end and result.

Key words: morality, theory, approach, classification, source and documentation, end and result, scholars.

The research techniques include a nine-question questionnaire on moral guidance, a four-question questionnaire on moral values, an eight-question questionnaire on deviant behavior and a nine-question questionnaire on emotional damage. Pierson’s correlation coefficient, structural equation modeling and mediatory Regression analysis were used for the analyzing the data. The research results show that emotional damage and deviant behavior have a significant negative relationship with moral guidance and moral values(P<./.1). Deduction of Ought to from Is

Seyyed Habib Dashti / PhD student of moral philosophy, IKI                     dashti_2027@yahoo.com

    Received: 2015/02/28 - Accepted: 2015/07/27

    Abstract

The issue of ‘’deduction of ought to from is’’ is one of the important issues in moral epistemology. The coherence of the theories which justify moral propositions by referring to immoral propositions are based on the presupposition of the probability of deducing a (moral) ought to from is. But, a group of moral philosophers offer reasons for the impossibility of the deduction (moral) ought to from is. Using a theoretical-analytical approach, this research seeks to show it is possible to deduce (moral) ought to from is and how this deduction occurs by citing the evidence and evaluation of each of the two groups of philosophers.

Key words: Metaethics, ought to, is, Hume (David), Jan Serel, Ayatollah Misbah.
